Ernesto Ottone: Baku-hosted COP29 is of particular significance in addressing climate crisis

“The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29, to be hosted by Azerbaijan, is of particular significance in addressing climate crisis. The activity of the Friendship Group, and the decisions and measures taken on climate change will be crucial in protecting cultural heritage,” said Ernesto Ottone, Assistant Director-General for Culture of UNESCO, in an interview with AZERTAC at the conference dedicated to Azerbaijan's "Culture-Based Climate Action" (C4C) initiative.

Describing culture as a powerful and still untapped resource for climate change mitigation and adaptation, Ernesto Ottone emphasized: “Culture provides innovative and community-based solutions to the impacts of climate change.”
