In 2005, medieval manuscripts on medicine and pharmacy were inscribed on the Memory of the World Register.
On November 28-29, 2008, on the initiative of the National Commission for UNESCO, UNESCO International Centre for Central Asian Studies and ASAS, an International Conference entitled “The Strabo Route as Part of the Great Silk Road” was organized.
On November 24, 2010, a contract was signed between the President of ASAS M.Karimov and UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Science on the Action Plan on the project of Japan’s Trust Fund to strengthen human resources. Following the contract, 100.000 USD were allocated to the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan to support the establishment of technology parks and the preparation of science and technology strategy.
At the same time, the Trust Fund established under the Framework Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and UNESCO on Cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture and communication envisages a project on biosphere reserves in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
