Farid Gayibov: Azerbaijan has made special contributions to UNESCO's sports agenda

The next session of UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport (CIGEPS) has commenced at the organization's headquarters.>

The Press Service of the Ministry informed AZƏRTAC that during the opening segment of the session, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Qayibov delivered a speech as the chairperson of the Committee for the years 2022-2023.>

He congratulated Chile's Minister of Sports on his appointment to the position and provided information about the Committee's activities over the past four years. Farid Qayibov highlighted Azerbaijan's contributions to UNESCO's sports agenda, mentioning the success of the MINEPS VII conference held in Baku from June 26-29 last year, with participation from representatives of 110 countries. The Minister also discussed projects implemented in Azerbaijan under the "Fit for Life" initiative.>

At the meeting, UNESCO's Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences, Gabriela Ramos, the new chair of the Committee, Chile's Minister of Sports Jaime Pizarro, and several other member countries thanked Azerbaijan for its successful chairmanship and the excellent organization of the MINEPS VII conference.>

During his visit to Paris, Farid Qayibov also held a meeting with Gabriela Ramos. Azerbaijan's ambassador to UNESCO, Elman Abdullayev, was also present at the meeting.
