An exhibition titled "Cultural Heritage of Azerbaijan in UNESCO" opened in Baku
2018-05-11On the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, the exhibition opened with the initiative and organization of the Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve and the Arts Council Azerbaijan (non-governmental organization) and support of National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO.
The main purpose of the exhibition, which was held in the “Art Tower” gallery in Icherisheher, was to convey the importance of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s services to the public in establishing and developing relations between Azerbaijan and UNESCO.
Director of Scientific Cultural Center of Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve Department Javid Kazimov highlighted that National Leader Heydar Aliyev is the founder of modern Azerbaijan and spoke about the attention and care he showed to the cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people.
The Secretary-General of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, Ambassador-at- Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elnur Sultanov said that the great memory of the National Leader was reminiscent of many events. Emphasizing that the National Leader is an architect of the modern Azerbaijan and all the achievements gained in our country are the result of Heydar Aliyev's far-sighted policy, Elnur Sultanov said that the services of the National Leader in establishing and developing relations with UNESCO are indispensable. The speaker noted that as a result of the attention of the National Leader various events related to Azerbaijani culture held in UNESCO headquarter, as well as in Baku with the support of this international organization. E. Sultanov said that the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO was established by the Order of the National Leader on February 21, 1994. Noting that Azerbaijan is an active member of UNESCO and has been playing an important role in promoting UNESCO values for 26 years, Secretary-General emphasized the special services of First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva in the development of close relations between Azerbaijan and UNESCO.
E. Sultanov said that the exhibition, presented today to the public, reflects the rich cultural heritage of our people, whether mugham art, tar, kamancha, ashig art or carpet weaving, Gobustan rock monuments, the Icherisheher, where our event is held, is a bright example of our ancient heritage.
Then the guests got acquainted with the exhibition.
The exhibition will last till May 19.
The art exhibition presented here are the result of works by many young and known artists who work in different styles and create a unique theme on topics reflecting our rich and ancient cultural heritage.
It should be noted that an exhibition of works on tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Azerbaijan included in the relevant UNESCO lists was organized during the event held in Baku last year on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Azerbaijan's membership to the UNESCO.
