2017-09-21On September 21, 2017, the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum held the awarding ceremony of the participants took part at the lectures and master classes on Dargin Kaitag embroidery. Director of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum Shirin Melikova and trainer of the classes Raisa Ismayilova made speeches and later, the participants were awarded with certificates.
The master classes in Azerbaijani and Russian were held on September 5-21 with joint-organization of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO and the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, within the project “Cultural Wealth of Azerbaijan”. The classes were attended by 29 participants – employees from the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, and Scientific Restoration Centre for Museum Values and Relics, as well as students from the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts and Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art.
Besides the master classes, the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum hosted the exhibition of kaitag and usishin samples on September 5-21. The exhibition presented several embroidery samples from the 19th century and handiworks of modern authors. More than 900 guests got acquainted with the exhibition.
Master classes on the restoration of textile, embroidery and traditional costume are one of the programs of the project “Cultural Wealth of Azerbaijan”. The program is organized by the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum and the ICOM Azerbaijan National Committee. Its aim is to preserve the handiworks for future generations, build capacity in the field of restoration and create a restoration center that meets modern and international standards.
