Azerbaijani minister chairs first official meeting of COP10 Bureau at UNESCO

The first official meeting of the Bureau of the Tenth Conference of Parties (COP10) to the International Convention against Doping in Sport took place at UNESCO Headquarters, chaired by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov.

The meeting included UNESCO Assistant Director-General (ADG) Lidia Brito, members representing various geographical regions, permanent missions accredited to UNESCO, representatives of international organizations, and anti-doping experts. Notably, observer states attended the session for the first time.

The agenda focused on the implementation of decisions adopted at COP10, the Bureau's work plan for the next two years (2026–2027), the results of global written consultations, and other critical matters.

Prior to the Bureau's official meeting, Minister Farid Gayibov represented the Bureau at the second official meeting of the Approval Committee for the "Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport."

Additionally, Gayibov met with representatives of Group II (Central and Eastern Europe), which he represents within the Bureau. During this meeting, he provided updates on the Bureau's activities and the proposals to be presented at the session, facilitating an exchange of views. On the sidelines of the visit, the Minister also held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Degtyarev.
