The 42nd session of the World Heritage Committee started its work
 

The 42nd session of the World Heritage Committee started its work in Manama, the capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The event was attended by the Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan to UNESCO, Ambassador Anar Karimov, representatives of the National Commission for UNESCO, Ministry of Culture and ”Icherisheher” Administration of State Historical-Architectural Reserve, as well as national experts Rizvan Bayramov and Rashad Allahverdiyev.

The session will focus on the effective implementation of the 1972 UNESCO World Heritage Convention, inscription of new nominations on the World Heritage List, Protection of Heritage Monuments, Heritage Fund's budget and other issues.

It is worth to mention that Azerbaijan chaired the ad-hoc working group established by the decision of the World Heritage Committee last year and submitted to the Committee members report on the results of the working group on the first day of the current session.

The Committee will continue its work until July 4.

Azerbaijan is a member and vice-president of the Committee.
