With the initiative of UNESCO, World Philosophy Day was established in 2002. Since then, the third Thursday of November has been celebrated as World Philosophy Day every year.

AZERTAG with reference to the UNESCO website reports that World Philosophy Day emphasizes the importance of philosophy for the development of every culture and every person. By promoting critical and free thinking, philosophy contributes to a better understanding of the world, the creation of more inclusive societies, as well as fostering of tolerance and promoting of peace.

World Philosophy Day is also celebrated this year in the context of the health, economic and social crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic continues. When the world experiences full of uncertainty and disorder, people approach to philosophy. During the pandemic, specific questions arose: what remains open or closed, what is treated or not, what is important, and vice versa. The responses to the relevant questions are often about cultural and social values differing significantly between countries.

On the occasion of this remarkable day, the global online event, "Philosophy in the World - Worldwide Philosophy Relay" will be dedicated to intercultural philosophy for peace and stability during crisis.
